Yellow House

Located along Seaside Avenue in Westbrook, Connecticut, this coastal residence was thoughtfully designed to compliment the character of its beachside setting while making the most of its prominent position along Long Island Sound. The narrow, elongated lot presented both challenges and opportunities, with the design carefully oriented to capture expansive views to the south and east. Traditional shingle-style details and carefully considered exterior elements allow the new residence to feel naturally rooted in the established neighborhood while providing the comfort and functionality of a modern coastal home. Large windows and strategically positioned openings frame the water views, allowing the home to fully embrace its setting while maintaining the welcoming character of a traditional New England beach house. 

Given the property's location within a flood-prone area, the home was also designed to meet FEMA flood-elevation requirements. The structure is subtly elevated above the flood zone, integrating this essential technical consideration into the overall architectural design without compromising the home's relationship to the landscape.
