Newport Cottage

Originally built in 1954, this Cape Cod-style home underwent a thoughtful renovation, preserving its traditional character while enhancing the home’s function, scale, and curb appeal. The project included the addition of a new shed dormer, a small first-floor addition, and a covered front porch, all designed to complement the proportions and architectural language of the original home. Particular attention was given to incorporating classic Shingle Style details throughout the renovation. Exposed rafter tails, shingled columns, and carefully proportioned windows with divided lites reinforce the home’s traditional character while giving the updated exterior a cohesive and timeless appearance.

The home feels both original to its setting and thoughtfully renewed—demonstrating how careful additions and authentic architectural details can enhance an existing home without compromising its character.
