Narragansett Pier
Narragansett, Rhode Island
Designed as a companion to an existing residence in the historic Narragansett Pier neighborhood, this newly constructed garage was carefully designed to complement the character and architectural language of the main house. Rather than simply serving as an accessory structure, the garage was conceived as an extension of the property’s overall architectural identity.
The design incorporates the distinctive detailing, proportions, and shingle-style elements found throughout the original home, creating a cohesive relationship between the two structures. Particular attention was given to the roof forms, dormers, window configurations, and decorative shingle patterns, allowing the new construction to feel established within the historic neighborhood.
Given the property's location within the Narragansett Pier Historic District, the project was reviewed by the Narragansett Historic District Commission as part of the permitting process. Careful attention to the neighborhood's architectural character and historic context resulted in a garage that provides modern functionality while remaining respectful of the property's existing character and setting.
